Privacy Policy

Summary

Speed Overlay Camera is a local-first app. It does not require an account and does not include advertising, tracking, third-party analytics, a developer-operated backend, or developer-operated cloud sync.

The app processes recordings, location information, telemetry, projects, and selected images locally on your device. This information is not automatically transmitted to or collected by the developer.

Information processed on your device

Camera and microphone

The app uses the camera to record video. If microphone recording is enabled, audio is included in the recording. Video and audio are stored locally in the app's container and may be included in an exported video at your request.

Location and activity telemetry

When permission is granted, the app processes location measurements such as coordinates, timestamps, speed, horizontal and vertical accuracy, altitude, and course. This information is used to show and validate speed, calculate distance, draw routes and maps, and create Route Posters.

Current location may be processed while the camera screen is active to provide a live speed and map preview. Route telemetry is saved with an activity when you make a recording.

Project and diagnostic information

An activity may contain the original and exported videos, telemetry, route and map artifacts, overlay settings, Route Posters, and technical information such as the app version, iOS version, device model, permission state, project identifier, and timestamps. This information remains in local app storage.

User-selected images

The app uses Apple's system Photos picker when you choose an image for a custom overlay. The app receives only the image you explicitly select; it does not scan your photo library. A local copy of the selected image, including metadata contained in the selected file, may be stored in the app's asset storage and copied into activities that use it. Selected images are not uploaded to a developer-operated server.

Saving to Photos

The app requests add-only Photos access when you choose to save an exported video or Route Poster. This permission allows the app to add the finished file without browsing your existing photo library.

Apple services

MapKit

Live Route Map preview and post-record Route Map preparation use Apple's MapKit services. Apple may process the map region and technical information needed to deliver map imagery under Apple's terms and privacy policies. The app uses its existing on-device location stream to position the map and does not send recordings or route data to a developer-operated server.

StoreKit and In-App Purchases

Pro Forever purchases are processed by Apple through StoreKit. The app checks Apple-signed product and transaction information to determine whether Pro features are available. The developer does not receive or store your payment-card details. Apple's processing is governed by Apple's privacy policy.

Information sent by you

The app does not automatically upload recordings, routes, selected images, or diagnostics. Information leaves the app only when you explicitly save or share a video, poster, image, or diagnostic file. The service or recipient you choose through the system share sheet processes the shared file under its own terms.

Full GPS Diagnostics contain exact route coordinates and should be shared only with recipients you trust. A Redacted Summary omits route coordinates but is not anonymous: it may include a project UUID, timestamps, device and app details, permission states, and sample metrics.

If you contact support, the developer receives the email address, message, and attachments you choose to send. Support information is used only to respond to and resolve your request; it is not used for advertising or tracking and is not sold. It is retained only as long as reasonably necessary to handle the request or comply with legal and security obligations. You may request deletion of a support conversation by emailing support@relways.com. An email service provider may process support messages to deliver, secure, and operate email under its terms and applicable agreements.

Permissions and your choices

You can grant or deny Camera, Microphone, Location, and Photos permissions when iOS asks. You can later review or revoke these permissions in iOS Settings. Revoking a permission prevents the corresponding feature from working but does not delete information already stored locally.

You decide whether to record, enable the microphone, select an image, save to Photos, prepare a map, or share a file. The app does not require access to unrelated device data.

Retention and deletion

Activities remain on the device until you delete them:

• Delete Video, Keep Activity removes the local original and exported videos but keeps route telemetry, diagnostics, overlay information, and Route Posters for that activity.
• Delete Activity removes the activity's local project folder, including its video, telemetry, diagnostics, maps, Route Posters, and project copies of selected images.
• A selected overlay image may also remain in the app's shared local asset storage after an activity is deleted. The remaining local copy is removed when the app is deleted.
• Files already saved to Photos or shared with another app, service, or person must be deleted separately from those locations.
• Deleting the app removes remaining information in the app container, subject to device backups and other services controlled by you and Apple.

The developer cannot remotely view or delete information stored only on your device.

Security

The app relies on the iOS application sandbox and system permission controls. No storage method is completely risk-free, so protect access to your device and review files before sharing them.

Children

The app is not directed to children and does not provide social networking, messaging, or public user profiles. The developer does not knowingly collect children's personal information through the app.

Changes

This policy may be updated when app functionality or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top of the page will be updated when a revised policy is published.
